Creel Sierra Tarahumara and its magic

Everyone tells you that it is the entrance to the Copper Canyon, that there are endless natural beauties, that you will leave part of your heart when a Rarámuri smiles at you, but no one prepares you for the adventure that is about to begin, once you set foot in distant Creel.


The reason

Copper Canyons

It is one of the longest and deepest canyon systems in the world, with 60,000 kilometers of mountains.

It has given rise to some of the most important rivers in the northwest of the country such as the Urique Verde, Septentrión, Chínipas, among others.

30% of the terrestrial species recorded in Mexico live here.

It is the habitat of 290 species of birds, 24 of these are endemic and ten are in danger of extinction. In winter, it hosts thousands of migratory birds from Canada and the United States.

It is home to the Rarámuri, the purest and best preserved ethnic group in all of America.


The basics

Climb the cable car at the Copper Canyon Adventure Park, in nearby Divisadero.


Essentials

Take the Chihuahua Train to the Pacific (Chepe).

Enter the Museum of Tarahumara Culture.

Climb the Christ the King Monument at sunset to enjoy the view.
